The two-storey building needed to include workshop and demonstration spaces, a technology lab and conference facilities, all meeting the BREEAM Excellent standard. The council wanted to use off-site construction methods as a best practice example of how modern building techniques can support construction and improve efficiency.
From the outset, we led the design process and developed construction techniques in partnership with all stakeholders to meet the challenging targets set by the brief. We worked particularly closely with our designers, Barker Associates, to transform the off-site construction requirement into the completed plans.
As the building had to meet the BREEAM Excellent standard, this meant addressing sustainable development standards across management, energy, health and wellbeing, transport, water, materials, waste, land use, ecology and pollution.
Working with different sustainable materials and systems – and using a mixture of structural technologies – required careful consideration of details and interfaces before work began.

We are extremely proud of how a truly collaborative partnership can deliver even the most challenging of projects.
